Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band performed sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group The band held auditions for a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to commemorate its 20th anniversary. Going Listed here dug through old tapes and recordings to create the unique record. The album was well-received by fans and Toto embarked on an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings and also an interview with the group.
